Learning by filming

Animánie is a non-profit organization from Pilsen which focuses on audiovisual education of children and youth. We hold yearlong courses that build skills in animation, postproduction and photography. We offer open workshops of animation and workshops for specific groups.

Every year we organize festival of animated films with competitive screenings of films made by kids from 6 to 26 years of age, this year with international participation.

For public

Leisure groups

We offer after-school leisure groups of animation and related fields such as Character Design, Digital Drawing and Painting, or Screenwriting. Meet our experienced lecturers in our atelier in the building of Moving Station, the cultural centre in the southern suburbs of Pilsen.

Summer Animation Camp

Every year in August, we organize a Summer Animation Camp. For 10 days, the participants work on creating their own animated film in the inspiring environment of Šumava nature.

Tailored-made workshops

We offer animation workshops as a side event of film festivals, Children's Day, camps and cultural events at home or abroad. We also make gallery programmes and interactive expositions for exhibitions.

For schools

Programmes for schools

We offer animation and film-educational programmes. Programmes for schools are intended for one class group each time, they last 3-4 hours, and can be held in a class with the possibility of screening a film.

Animation in Epitome

Animanie also organizes accredited seminars for pedagogues focusing on teaching animation and film education. A weekend programme offers 16 hours of lectures, presentations, illustrations and also practical animations.

Animation Imagination

A five-day animation workshop suitable for both first school and lower secondary school. During a week, young authors go through the process of making an animated film, from making a script to editing. The final output is a proper short animated film.

Cinecafé

Both forgotten and cult films that you will not see in a multiplex. Once a month, we screen animated films that are definitely worth seeing, accompanied by a professional introduction. CineCafé is held in Družba the University Café. For more information, we recommend following our Facebook.

Animetod

We are preparing a series of audiovisual lessons, methodological and teaching materials on how and why to deal with film, and how and why to create animated films. The lessons are intended mainly for primary, secondary and high school teachers, leisure activity teachers and others.

The content of the lessons is based on many years of experience of Animanie and its lecturers in working with children and students at schools, leisure groups, summer camps and workshops in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Animanie festival

The second half of November traditionally belongs to the International Animanie Festival. Every year, the festival welcomes young authors of animated films and video games whose works will compete for the Animánička Award. The competition show is accompanied by screenings of animated films by famous authors.

The programme is accompanied by animation workshops, lectures, a game zone, discussions with the jury, a programme for teachers and much more.

During the fifteen years of its existence, Animanie Festival has become the largest show of its kind in our country.
